In Rwanda, in 1994, Hutu militia committed a bloody genocide, murdering one million Tutsis. Many of the Tutsi women were spared, only to be held captive and repeatedly raped. Many became pregnant. Intended Consequences tells their stories. See the project at http://mediastorm.com/publication/intended-consequences
I recently watched a film on media storm called Intended Consequences. This video is tells the life of women that were abused in the attack in 1994 in the East African nation of Rwand. Over one million of people were slaughtered and killed. 20,000 kids where born to the result of rape.
The film is an interview of 30 women that were rapped, some of the women had kids by the men that rapped them others were hiv(Human immunodeficiency virus) positive. "they said they wanted virgins on this side and non virgins on the other side they ordered us to remove our clothes and they started raping us" Yvette one of the victims was describing her abuse. She got pregnant and wanted to commit suicide because how can she love the child of a man who raped her. She was waiting for the day to give birth and then she would kill the child but then she seen how beautiful the child was and decided to keep it. Other women talk about witnessing they're family member's getting killed.
I honestly think they're should be some kind of government there so it wont happen again. I understand that the woman didn't want to have the kids because it wasn't a child from the one they loved. It was even more sad since most of them were still in school and young. In my opinion the mothers shouldn't have tried to kill the child or anything because the child has no fault in that, the child is Innocent. This video is important for people all over the world to watch because the more people that hear the more help they can get and they can feel safe. I would be traumatized if i seen one of my family being slaughtered even if it was a long time ago 1994 things like that still happen today in Africa. This film uncovered the truth about how women have been abused. I would be traumatized if i ever seen one of my family members being abused or killed like they were. The hurt and softness of the translators voice's made the film more sentimental. It amazed me to see how graphic these pictures were it most have been tragic to go through what they went through.
Great video, very educational, i Actually watched and blogged about the same video on my own blog. I really enjoyed watching this. very sad but great to watch.
